Giving As Worship
Giving is such an important part of our worship. In response to God’s gracious giving in our lives, we practice generosity. Much of this generosity is expressed in our giving to and through Island View. All general gifts fund the Ministry Action Plan, through which we carry out all the ministries of our church.
Ten percent (a tithe) of our collective giving is devoted to missions outside the walls of our church. This is the first gift our church gives together from the Ministry Action Plan, as a worshipful expression of our trust in God’s provision and our devotion to God’s mission.
Choices in Giving
Because we are aligned with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and Southern Baptist Convention, we allow each giver to choose how their cooperative missions dollars flow–either to both groups, or to only one. Your personalized giving envelopes, distributed before the beginning of each year, allow you to make these and other designations.
Using these envelopes also enables us to more easily send you a year-end giving statement. If would like to have personalized giving envelopes, you may request them from our Financial Administrator.
Island View also receives designated gifts to our Property Enhancement fund. These gifts enable work such as our Fellowship Hall renovation, and also pay down the modest balance we have remaining on a past renovation loan. Many people have committed to eliminate this debt in the coming years, and we invite you to share in that effort.
Throughout the year, we also collect several special offerings, most notably for missions. Special envelopes for these offerings are available to you, or you can designate your gift (to an existing fund) on any offering envelope.
